Season Overview

The Senators made a major signing during the summer of 2004, inking goaltender Dominik Hasek to replace the departed Patrick Lalime, who wasn't retained after the playoff exit against the Toronto Maple Leafs the previous season. However, Senators fans would face a long wait to see "the Dominator" in action, as a lockout of the league's players in a labour dispute wound up cancelling the entire 2004-05 season. A new collective bargaining agreement was finally reached on July 13, 2005, setting the stage for the return to NHL action in the fall of 2005.
